Ever lost an important email? Or had to search through hundreds of emails just to find that one line of text you're looking for? We know what that's like, which is why we have chosen Trello as our client portal.

If you're working with us on a big project, like a novel or website, or if you're signing up to a subscription package, or even if you're just expecting to send us work often, we'll give you the option of communicating with us primarily through Trello instead of email. 

We love Trello for a number of reasons. It's easy to use, convenient, and—best of all—flexible. You can read more about why we love Trello and how we use it here

Some of the specific benefits of using it as a client portal include:

  • Ease of access: You can access it easily wherever you are through your web browser or the mobile app.
  • The search function: Searching in most email clients is a pain. Trello's search function is intuitive and actually works, so if you're looking for something in particular, you'll find it quicker and easier.
  • Integrations: You can integrate Trello with lots of other services, including Slack, Google Calendar, Gmail, and Typeform. You can also connect it with even more services through IFTTT and Zapier.
  • Comments: Instead of emailing back and forth, you can just add a task or question and then we can have the conversation right there, using comments. You can set up Trello to send email notifications if you think you'll forget to check, but Trello will still function as a headquarters for all your information.

So, here's exactly how we can use it to work together.

Requests and questions

If you're on a subscription package or you have recurring work with us, instead of emailing or calling us with your requests, you can just create a new Trello card in the 'Requests' column (Trello calls them lists). We get a notification every time you do something in your board, so we'll see it and get to it as soon as we can. Then, we'll keep you updated on our progress by moving it across to the 'In progress' list and 'Done' board, and commenting with any questions or updates.

Progress reports

If we're working with you on a big project, we'll track our progress through Trello lists. We'll start with a list of tasks, either in the left 'To do' list or in lists separated into categories, then move the tasks as we work on them or complete them.

If you need to provide us with documents, or if we need to provide them to you, we can attach them to cards in Trello. You can see an example of how the cards work below.

How to get started

Set up an account. We'll create a board for you and invite you to collaborate (you'll get an invite through Trello or your email). If you'd like to read more about getting started, Trello has a guide.
